Inspiration

We initially wanted to participate in this event for the experience, and just to have fun. After listening to Michael Broughton we saw the passion required to dive into such a field, and we wanted to replicate that. We wanted to try our absolute best, not only to win but to gain the knowledge needed to advance in this field in the future. For this event, Michael Broughton brought a new perspective to our group, and through his words, we were challenged and inspired.

What it does

Our project provides our client with a diverse and unique way to earn money, through a combination of many types of investments. Many types of investments, such as stocks and real estate helped us reach the desired financial goal of our client and cater to his ethical and moral needs.

How we built it

We used sources such as Yahoo Finance, CNN Money, and various other outlets and analysts to analyze investment patterns and probability of success, finally investing for a profit. We used other sources to help give us insights on how companies would do for the next 10 years, as well as see what they have planned for the future to see if they are worth the long-term risk.

Challenges we ran into

They were not many challenges we ran into, but budget and profits were some hefty blockades. We had to makes sure that we stayed within the desired budget, and had the desired profits. We also had to make many difficult and risky decisions, based on our thoughts about a certain investment as they were not guaranteed profit. These various blockades made the experience more challenging, but our group was up for it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of the way we persevered through the project. We stayed up late and made sure we fulfilled every requirement. We didn't need to work so hard, but we did, and we are proud of our hard work. We also exceeded our desired financial goals by almost 1 million dollars. We also only took the median prices of each stock and not the high, so we have not even maxed out earnings potential and we still exceeded our goal.

What we learned

What we learned was that in the stock game, we should not sulk over every decision. Try not to overthink and go with what you believe. We also learned what it took to be an investor.

What's next for Wall Street Wizardz

We want to get more experience in this field and possibly explore it as a career in the future.
