Inspiration

Oftentimes in college, you will stay up late with friends, studying and having fun. Usually, those traveling alone at night are told to "text back when they get home". However, what if they do not get home? What if something happens? This application aims to solve this problem by sharing your location with your friends, allowing them to know for sure that you made it home safely.

What it does

This application allows you to share your location with your friends as you travel to your destination, letting them know that you have reached home safely.

How we built it

Flutter UI Framework to develop a multi-platform mobile application. Firebase back-end server to allow for seamless analytics and communication.

Challenges we ran into

There was great difficulty in finding working Flutter packages for viewing maps in the UI. Also, several problems arose during the development of the backend application server.

Seamless UI design and intuitive integration of features.

Front-end design experience in a hectic, deadline-based environment.

What's next for WalkMeHome

Allow users to view their friends' trips, to ensure a past trip was ended successfully. Also, allow for UI components for sending and receiving friend requests.
