Walk of the Marked is part of my larger vision to expand the universe of my novels Sunderer and Whispers from the Weald beyond the page and into new forms of media. Through music, I’m bringing the lore, myths, and voices of these worlds into a living, performative space. By utilising Suno, I am able to compose original songs from my own lyrics that carry the weight of these imagined histories, while embodying the personas of characters drawn directly from the novels. These voices are not just telling stories, they are acting them out, immersing audiences in the same events and struggles that drive the fiction.
The video for Walk of the Marked extends this approach visually, marrying narrative and song to deepen the mythology. It is one step in a broader project: a multi-medium tapestry where literature, song, and visual storytelling converge to create an experience that feels as though it belongs to the world itself.
At the heart of Walk of the Marked is Chaise Aderyn, a wandering bard whose cursed guitar, Griefstrung, bears whispers from beyond the Veil. Each note he plays does more than stir hearts; it unsettles the boundary between life and death. The song follows the moment when Chaise’s music calls to those who have been touched by the Veil: the Marked. Drawn by his performance, they are pulled into a trance, compelled to march beneath a doom they cannot escape. To outsiders, it appears as though Chaise is leading a procession of the condemned, but in truth, he is struggling against the will of the relic guitar that seeks to use him as its vessel. The piece is both a lament and a warning: music has the power to bind, to break, and to claim souls, even when the bard himself does not yet understand the cost.
The video was built as a multi-platform collaboration between tools: I submitted the lyrics into Suno with a carefully crafted, stylised prompt to generate the song. From there, I developed the visual language using Midjourney, OpenArtAi, and KlingAi, combining each to create the layered clips that carry the atmosphere of the tale. These were then compiled and refined within DaVinci Resolve, shaping the final video into a cohesive narrative experience.
The greatest challenge I faced was achieving consistent and believable lip-sync. I discovered that most lip-sync models struggle with singing compared to speech, unless the prompts specifically include detailed instructions for facial movement and expression.
Walk of the Marked has become the flagship video for my YouTube channel dedicated to the lore and myths of the Sundered Realms novels
