Inspiration:
As a student, I walked everywhere: between classes, the store, and back home. One day, I asked myself: What if my steps could earn me something? That question sparked the idea for Walk It - a way to incentivize movement by rewarding people like me for walking.
What it does:
Walk It tracks your steps and rewards you with tokens for staying active. These tokens can be redeemed, traded, or used within the Walk It ecosystem, turning movement into real value.
How it leverages electroneum:
Walk It leverages Electroneum to streamline its reward system. It aggregates user step data from fitness trackers via a secure backend and issues Walk It points directly to users' Electroneum wallets via a secure smart contract written in Vyper. Electroneum's low fees and fast transactions ensure efficient reward distribution while issuing NFT-based proofs of activity to provide verifiable records of achievements, enhancing user engagement and gamification.
How we built it:
We utilized a combination of technologies, including:
Frontend: Flutter Backend: Python with Django Smart Contracts: Vyper for enhanced and secure Electroneum VM contracts Fitness API Integration: Google Fit and Apple HealthKit
Challenges we ran into:
Integrating with various fitness tracking platforms: Ensuring accurate and reliable step data across different devices and platforms. Developing a secure and user-friendly blockchain-based reward system: Balancing user experience with the complexities of blockchain technology. Designing a user-friendly mobile experience for easy adoption
Accomplishments that we're proud of:
Successfully developing a functional prototype that rewards users for walking. Designed a user-friendly mobile experience for easy adoption Building a user-friendly interface that makes interacting with the blockchain seamless. Creating a community around the project and generating excitement for the future of Walk It.
What we learned:
The importance of user experience in blockchain applications. The challenges of building and maintaining a decentralized system. The power of community engagement in driving adoption and growth.
What's next for Walk It:
Expanding partnerships with fitness brands, organizations, and hopefully, the Rotaract club. Optimizing features like challenges, leaderboards, and social integration. Continuously improving the user experience and expanding the Walk It community. IOS support
I could push a working demo to google play store because there is an issue with creating new developer console accounts
