Inspiration

In one of my undergraduate courses, I study the entitle of city-centralized living, which impacts a significant amount in socio-spatial aspects. City inhabitants will tend to live near their source of income, places to work, or where they often visit to meet the end and near amenities like groceries and school. But, apparently, instead of maximizing public transport utilization, they tend to use their private vehicle to commute, affecting the environment significantly. In fact, besides having bad health conditions since they lack physical activity, it also impacts the environment badly, which is such common information that urban areas convey the biggest amount of emission compared to sub-urban or even villages. This is where I come to an idea to make city inhabitants walk to their place of amenities and work. We also lure urban people into using this innovation because we provide a basic human instinct to socialize with people.

What it does

Walk.ing will lure people living in the city to walk instead of using their private vehicles. We will support this activity to be fun by searching for a walking buddy with the same/near destination for the user. We will help users search for the nearest shortcuts to their destination and try to make this regulation fun so physical activity is not hard to regulate. Not only achieving minimal step counts so that our physical health is well maintained, but we could also significantly reduce the emission produced in the city's heart. Walking with a buddy and sharing each other story is never a boring activity since humans love socializing! Also, this activity will make your trip to work less stressful with a walking buddy.

How we built it

This application is still an idea that has gone through only market analytics and visibility. We built the prototype before the decision to make it centralized and still a broad concept. We first built it from scratch and made it into a prototype that will be provided in the part of the innovation submission. Now, we make it the first centralized to be utilized in cities.

Challenges we ran into

Making it come to realize is still our number one struggle currently. This idea is very adaptable, and we hope after we out it to this competition, we will have the chance to make it to a realization and be adapted to the wide regulation of cities society.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our first raw idea gained its recognition from a previous hackathon we submitted this idea before. It is a beautiful start for us to continue building our innovation continually and build it, so it is more adaptable and viable to a wide market.

What we learned

We realized that a simple idea could be continually built into impeccable innovation that could significantly change this world's regulation. But, building it and being eager to bring it to society is never easy retention. Building it from scratch and now making it more centralized took us a long time and gave us valuable reasons. Gaining opinions and critics from our surroundings/professionals and having the bravery to have wider visibility could give us a decent opportunity to grow. We hope that this idea can continually grow even after this idea surpasses our dream to be adapted to city society regulation.

What's next for Walk.ing

Our nearest goal is to gain recognition from a more stabilized organization to help our idea grow and begin to spread its attention to wider attention.
