Inspiration

I drove 8 hours to get to this hackathon and it was an invorating experience to have awake drivers on the road.

What it does

uses a EEG brain machine interface to check if a driver is paying attention to the road or complacent.

How we built it

Used a MindFlex EEG headset and hacked it using arduino hardware as well as a Node.Js Backend and React front end.

Challenges we ran into

Getting the sensor to read consistent values for every person, every time. Intergrating C++ code with Node.Js and React frontend.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Made a MVP for a product that has a lot of potential for brain machine interfaces in the future.

What we learned

Integrating hardware with software applications, communication with Serial, learning how to make the most out of hardware with not many resources (IE splicing wires when you didn't have a long cable). Learned about EEG brainwaves and what they meant about a person's state of mind.

What's next for WakeWatch

Hosting on servers with wifi capabilities. and other applications relating to the automotive industry or even other aspects of everyday life.
