Inspiration
After reading Wakefern's challenge #5 regarding constructing an application for customer feedback, we realized the importance between an efficient pipeline of communication between customers and store management to build a better shopping experience.
What it does
Our application addresses the need for an efficient customer feedback form and provides a clean and modern interface for easy customer use. In addition, when the customer submits the form, all of their data reports directly to a Google Sheets, which makes it easier for store management to follow up with if needed.
How we built it
We built our application using three programming languages, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Specifically with HTML and JavaScript, we used these languages to build the backbone of our application and have functioning operations. CSS was used to advance the overall look of the interface and build a design that is modern, but efficient. In order to connect the data from the form to a Google Sheet, we utilized a JSON API called SheetDB.
Challenges we ran into
One challenge that we ran into is figuring out an effective method of connecting customer data back to store management in case management needs to follow up with any of the customer's comments. After an abundance of research and trial an error of various methods, the JSON API for Google Sheets presented as the most successful solution to address this concern. In addition, we also contemplated the overall design of the application and had to go back and forth between several design options in order to get to our perfect model that we currently have.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the functionality and design of our application. After several hours of work and research, we are beyond satisfied with how our application turned out because not only does it have a sleek and contemporary look, but we are also proud of how our application is truly efficient in connecting the feedback from customers to store management.
What we learned
From this project, we learned about the importance of frontend development and how it can advance developments of efficient systems such as feedback forms. We also learned about working more closely with the languages of HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and implementing APIs.
What's next for Wakefern Food Corp. Feedback Form
Another advancement that we would like to make with this project is constructing a bot on the feedback form that can address general questions and concerns through automated responses that still target the customer's comment.
