Inspiration
Victoria was falling asleep in class and decided that she needed to start staying awake for lecture.
What it does
IR will detect eye motion, accelerometer will detect head motion, and if the wake-up glasses determines that you are about to nod off, the headpiece will vibrate and massage your head, ensuring that you are awake and alert for your classes.
How we built it
Using Gyroscope, Accelerometer, breadboard, Arduino (for MVP 1), and Raspberry Pico (for Final).
Challenges we ran into
The Blynk interface trying to connect with our system and Python libraries that can assist with the device.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Getting our device to function with user's head motion (typical sleep motion/behavior) as well as be able to connect with devices so we can have notifications send to phones + Apple Watch.
What we learned
MicroPython, using Raspberry Pi Pico, IMU calibration, and device design.
What's next for Nap Nudges
Having a headband and IR sensor device combined into a headband + glasses device, more elaborate interface for the dashboard, and long term tracking of the user's behavior.
