Inspiration
Hello, we are team Waggy. We were deeply heartbroken by the amount of waste produced by people when shopping for pet food. Pet owners, as well as pet stores discard pet food at a tremendous rate. Every year, approximately 5,600 tons of pet food are discarded.
What it does
This is why we propose our mobile application Waggy. Our application will eliminate pet food waste, as well as promote financial literacy towards our customers. Customers and animal shelters can buy nearly expired pet food at a discount, or for free.
How we built it
Our team utilized Next.js, FastAPI, Python, and React.js to build our application.
Challenges we ran into
Due to time constraint, our team was unable to implement all the features we had in mind.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our team is extremely proud of working together without any conflicts, despite being under a lot of pressure. Especially, our UX/UI developer, who worked alone.
What we learned
Our team learned the severity of the implication of food waste, and how it devastates our environment.
What's next for Waggy
We hope to implement more features in the future, such as, providing a better user experience when utilizing the map feature.
