Inspiration
The project was inspired by the work of Sultan Sharrief. In these turbulent times, we can look to the past for wisdom from our ancestors that can help guide us to a better future.
What it does
The piece requests your help in healing Mother Earth. You are guided through three different interactions that help call forth the ancestors and unlock their power. The piece uses hand tracking, voice recognition, and can be a multiplayer experience.
How I built it
The piece was built in Lens Studio for the Snapchat Spectacles. It was created with a combination of Typescript and Javascript.
Challenges I ran into
Getting the project to sync between multiple players was one of the largest challenges we faced. It's also hard to collaborate on Lens Studio projects, so we had to just send the project back and forth to each other.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Getting the multiplayer to sync! This was my first time building a multiplayer experience. :) I'm also very proud of the team for deciding on a manageable scope and being able to execute it in a short turnaround time. We also had a wonderful team who all went above and beyond to make the project beautiful.
What I learned
We learned how to create a functional multiplayer experience. I'm excited to take what I've learned to create new projects!
What's next for WageLove
We'd love to build out the experience to learn the history of the different ancestors and find additional ways to interact with them. There is also an additional "Wage Love" dance that Sultan choreographed, that we'd love to include in the
