Inspiration

As animal lovers, we want to create an application that aims to help more animals find their forever loving home. Currently, the existing applications and websites display animals in need of fostering and adoption for each shelter/region, but there is no application that connects with different shelters throughout Victoria.

What it does

A mobile application that acts as a bridge, connecting animal shelters with people who want to make a positive impact on the lives of pets in need.

It aims to simplify the adoption and fostering process by linking potential pet parents and caregivers with nearby shelters, increasing the chances of animals finding loving homes.

How we built it

For the application, we went with the standard design process. We looked at different applications from competition and similar niches. From which, we finalised our goal and intention as a group. After that, we went through making a lo-fi and hi-fi wireframe where we tested different design choices and altered our colour schemes. With the wireframe, colour scheme and icons set, we worked on the prototype of our application with Figma. With the prototype made, we set our sights for the future where more potential features could be added for our application.

Challenges we ran into

  • Deciding on a colour palette
  • Narrowing down the features due to limited time and scope
  • File compression for the submission

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Creating an application that integrates features from different applications and websites into one

What we learned

Through constant refinement and feedback loops with our team members, we made substantial enhancements to our application's usability and aesthetics. By collaborating effectively and valuing each team member's input, we were able to create a more holistic and user-centric design.

What's next for Wagabond

We plan to expand our scope by adding additional features:

  • Suggest a shelter
  • Rehoming
  • Expanding to other animals

Built With

  • figma
  • miro
  • procreate
