Inspiration

To tell the truth, it’s very hard for me to do things right. I sleep very irregularly, make impulsive purchases, and I have a goal of moving to Japan, which I haven’t been able to achieve for a long time.

I’ve tried lots of habit trackers and to-do apps, but almost all of them lack something. Sometimes there aren’t enough gamification features; other times I can’t get enough advice on how to achieve my goals. And sometimes I just lack motivation and need kinda challenge for myself. When I saw Gabby Beckford’s track, I screamed, “Yes, yes, and yes!” That’s exactly the same pain I’ve been dealing with for years

What it does

TUSI is an all in one habit and goal tracker with gamification, AI-powered advice, and Clubs. You can say: “Clubs? What’s that?” Clubs are kinda small communities (you can co-op with your friends/influencer/everyone else) where you’ll find inspiration, feedback, and support from ambitious people—just like you.

How we built it

As for the client: it’s an Expo app with a “tweaked” FSD architecture. For the MVP, I decided to remove the widgets layer and focus on building features. For subscriptions monetization, I’m using RevenueCat – and, to be honest, I use it in all my pet projects.

As for the backend: there’s a Hono LLM microservice deployed on Cloudflare Workers, and also Cloudflare R2 storage for photos

Challenges we ran into

I’m short on time because of work, but it was a great challenge and opportunity to build another pet project. I decided to focus on the iOS app first, but React Native is cross-platform. After ~1-2 days of polishing, it should also be possible to ship an Android client

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I’ve made a design I’m finaly not ashamed to show my mom that’s awesome! Also, I think, I’ve managed to lay a solid foundation for the gamification features that will help drive higher retention later

What we learned

Love Expo. I've used vanilla React Native CLI for years, but nowadays there is only one way to build an excellent RN app – Expo

What's next for TUSI

I’ll try to ship Clubs ASAP. I’ll also add Amplitude analytics and set up A/B testing for paywalls design and subscription pricing to maximise LTV. I’ll add localization too: I’ll order professional translations for the 4-5 most popular languages (everything is already set up for i18n). Finally, I’ll add more achievements and polish UX/UI

Also have to add recurrent notifications for tasks ASAP to make app ready for release
