Inspiration

We often buy products and services made commercially or imported in some form but there are a lot of people out there with hobbies and other vocational skills that are unable to monetize them. Many people have discovered new hobbies and passions during the lockdown that they could sell and profit from. In order to sell and earn a profit, the people have to know about them. This lockdown has made everyone rely on online shopping and it's difficult to compete with Multi-National Online Shopping agents. We have come up with VYAPPAR, a one-place destination for all your needs that you can get from your local area. You can get anything and everything you need and which is available according to their distance.

What it does

The vendor:- Can display Products and services, Has a feed for self-advertisement, Can post updates wrt their business, Can keep track of orders and transactions, Can chat with local customers and build relations, Can analyze their business through local tools on the app, etc; Become a Customer.

The customer:- Can order, schedule and negotiate services; Can view vendors based on proximity on the map feature, Socialize and Build communities via e-commerce, etc; Become a Vendor.

We will be handling cheap, safe, and efficient delivery with the help of third party startups, take a cut off the vendor's profits and give them various packages for money as they grow and we help get rid of the monopoly of industrialized and pre-processed goods one person at a time and one step at a time.

How we built it

The complete application has been built with the help of Android Studio and JAVA and the cloud functions are implemented with the help of Firebase.

Challenges we ran into

We did not want to bother our users by filling in a lot of data and we also wanted to ensure that the user on the other side gets all the information they want to make the right choice and also that the app should be as simple as possible because we took into consideration that not all people will be able to use technology very efficiently.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

In the end, we can proudly say that we have built an application which when deployed will provide an opportunity for all local vendors and enthusiasts to sell their product and the buyers can get the cheapest product from the nearest store.

What we learned

We learned a lot of new things because since the project was app based and the project was big so our team had to learn a lot of new things in the android app development like integrating Google Maps which works very efficiently and filters based on location and distance and also sorting user preferences based on categories.

What's next for Vyappar

We believe to become an app and a platform that helps small businesses and vendors grow. We decided to scale up to greater reaches in the e-commerce sector depending on how this whole idea turns out. It is in our culture to give back to the things that help us grow, thus the app also has a few philanthropic future ideas it wants to implement after hitting a few profit milestones: Sponsored E-learning and education for people who cannot afford them; providing primary sector businesses and workers a better network of intermediaries and customers who do not take advantage of them, all through our application; this app will also be having a service to connect NGOs who sign up with us to be able to have a platform to do their work better.
