Inspiration

Farmers face unpredictable weather, inefficient irrigation, and lack of real-time crop insights. Agriculture feeds the world, yet most small farmers still rely on guesswork. We wanted to change that by building Vriddhi, a platform that brings intelligence to the soil and helps farmers grow more with fewer resources.

What it does

  • Monitors crop health using satellite and drone imagery
  • Suggests optimized irrigation schedules with weather intelligence
  • Secures supply chain data with blockchain + IPFS
  • Provides real-time guidance via a farmer-friendly chatbot
  • Offers a clean, interactive dashboard for insights and decisions

How we built it

  • Backend: FastAPI for scalable APIs
  • AI/ML: PyTorch + scikit-learn for image and weather analysis
  • Chatbot: Rasa for natural farmer interactions
  • Frontend: Next.js + Material UI + Chart.js
  • Database & Blockchain: MongoDB + IPFS + blockchain SDKs
  • Deployment: Docker + AWS Lambda for scalable cloud deployment

Challenges we ran into

  • Integrating multiple technologies into a seamless platform
  • Handling large image uploads & validation efficiently
  • Ensuring accuracy of weather API data
  • Optimizing serverless deployment for speed and reliability

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Built a working prototype that integrates AI, blockchain, and chatbots
  • Designed a farmer-friendly interface with simple insights
  • Created a scalable architecture ready for real-world use cases
  • Learned to combine cutting-edge tools into a single ecosystem

What we learned

  1. How AI, blockchain, and cloud computing can work together for agriculture
  2. The importance of data validation and reliable APIs in real-world scenarios
  3. Designing tech that remains simple and accessible for farmers

What's next for Vriddhi

  • Expanding to support multiple crops and languages
  • Integrating IoT devices for soil and water sensors
  • Partnering with agri-supply chains for real-world testing
  • Enhancing chatbot with voice-based support for inclusivity
  • Scaling the platform to impact farmers globally
