Vreel Marketplace

Inspiration

Vreel Marketplace is about connecting the community and making essential information visible and accessible. Families often struggle to find healthy food across multiple food banks or locate barbers and beauticians who are wheelchair-accessible or trained for sensory-sensitive clients. These challenges are real and personal, yet often invisible to technology. We wanted to build a tool that reduces friction, empowers users, and prioritizes accessibility.

What it does

Vreel lets users search naturally and plan efficiently, turning scattered information into actionable, optimized routes. Users can ask, “I want to make pasta tonight with some sides,” and the system recommends which food banks to visit and in what order. Similarly, clients can find inclusive barbers or beauticians that meet their accessibility needs. Beyond this, the platform works with any curated dataset, making community resources transparent, actionable, and equitable.

How we built it

We combined natural language processing, agentic search algorithms, and data normalization. Data from food banks and local businesses is standardized and mapped, enabling fast, reliable search results. The engine builds optimized routes balancing availability, accessibility, and distance, saving time and effort for users.

Challenges

Aggregating diverse datasets, mapping nuanced accessibility details, and generating optimized multi-location plans were all complex tasks.

Accomplishments

We built a working prototype integrating multiple food banks and businesses, demonstrating how technology can directly improve accessibility and food security.

What we learned

Accessibility must be intentionally designed, natural language search makes information actionable, and proper data normalization and planning are crucial for real-world use.

How we make money

Vreel charges marketplace hosting fees, and marketplace owners accrue AI credits to power their listings. Listings can also opt into Pro features to enhance visibility and marketplace presence.

What's next

We aim to expand datasets, refine accessibility features, and partner with local organizations, empowering users to navigate their world efficiently, equitably, and inclusively.
