We came to HackPSU with no solid idea for a program to develop but saw the technology that was offered to us and started brainstorming in the conference room. After about the first hour, we developed a general layout of what we were going to do and implemented new ideas as we progressed.
The program we created loads a virtual room with interactive objects that based on weather conditions determined by Accuweather APIs simulate the weather conditions for one of the six areas you have selected.
We had little to no experience with most of all of the software, we encountered a plethora of hardware issues with the laptop we were using, and we had issues importing data from the API to the program.
We managed to build a functional prototype for the program we were aiming to create.
We learned how to use the Unreal Engine for VR, how to use the Accuweather APIs to get data, and a few of us gained knowledge of the technology and applications of VR.
If we were to continue our program, we would implement more weather variations, as well as a more efficient way to retrieve data from the Accuweather API.
