Our project uses the Oculus VR headset, a wacom tablet, and even Google Cardboard to create a virtual reality lecture hall. The idea behind this project is to create a virtual lecture hall environment in order to create a more immersive experience for online students. We have started by projecting a lecture video on a virtual projector screen and using a wacom tablet to write notes on a virtual notepad. The advantage to using the wacom tablet is that we can get data on the pen's location, allowing the user to see where their hand is even with the Oculus headset on. This project uses the Oculus VR headset primarily, but with some limited support for Google Cardboard in a spectator mode. We are also in the process of crunching point cloud data for 1404 Siebel, in the hopes of getting a full model of the lecture hall, although we will probably add a few more electrical outlets.
