Inspiration

-Around 1 lakh people die every year due to lack of knowledge for first aid. In a survey of more than 2,000 people found that 59% would not feel confident trying to save a life and 24 % would do nothing. Almost a quarter (24%) would do nothing if they saw somebody struggling and would either wait for an ambulance to arrive. Eight in ten adults (85%) lack the knowledge and confidence to act if someone collapsed and was unresponsive and not breathing. Situations where first aid could potentially make a difference include suffocations due to blocked airways, which claim 2,500 lives every year, and heart attacks 29,000.It's a shame that in life and death situations people ignore to respond or have no knowledge about correct measures at all. Our platform aims to eradicate each problem by creating a virtual reality solution which will train users on what to do during medical emergencies, theirs or others, which will help save lives. The immersive experience provided by VR will also be useful in preparing for the real world rather than just learning theory. Our platform follows certified instructions by Red Cross Society and IRCS and can provide certification validated by organizations which can be a valuable addition.

How we built it-

We built it using Unity and C#. We made use of the Unity provided XR Interaction Toolkit and an Oculus Quest 2 VR headset to test our scenarios.

Challenges we ran into-

AI development UI development Optimization of assets for VR

Accomplishments that we're proud of-

We Successfully created 3 main training courses for Asthma Attack first response, Electric Shock first response and Panic Attack Self Meditation.

What we learned-

We learned about the organization approved practices which should be taken in the given medical emergencies. We learnt more about VR development as well.

What's next for VR Panacea

-If we take a closer look at the Indian scenario then another problem of language barrier arises. For this challenge we will add a multi language voiceover feature where each and every instruction will be provided in their own mother tongue. We will also add some highly critical and complex scenarios such as CPR, usage of AED in case of heart attack etc. Numerous organizations, colleges, and businesses can include our course. Reputable first aid training companies will certify the course. This will allay users' worries about the legitimacy of the certification and its importance in life. We will also introduce our platform in the form of an app so that people can access the training without any expensive technology. Implementation of heart rate monitor as well as AI based feedback will make this a gamechanger in the industry.
