Inspiration
With the abundance of data, users can easily get overwhelmed. We wanted to create a new way users can interact with data and so we decided to use virtual reality to better interact, organize, and analyze data.
What it does
The Oculus Rift Virtual Reality Headset is used to analyze currency exchange rates throughout the world. The rates are dynamically updated based on user preference. The user can interact and analyze the data provided in each country.
How we built it
We used excel to handle the storage of the data. We created a CSV file to input into Unity. Then we used C# in the to create and modify objects.
Challenges we ran into
It took us 24 hours to get the Oculus working. With less than 12 hours to code, navigating 3-D objects and keep it together was a challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Being able to interpret, analyze, and map the financial data with our time constraint.
What we learned
We learned a lot about using and interpreting financial data.
What's next for VR-ify
We hope to allow the user to choose from other sets of data and also use this tool as collaboration tool.
