What it does
Uses Samsung Gear VR and OSISoft's PI System to show real-time analysis of energy usage in Lehigh buildings.
How We built it
We used Python to access the OSISoft PI System, and acquire real-time energy usage data from our buildings. The data is processed and pushed to an HTTP server. On the user's end, a Samsung Gear VR integrated with Android and Unity acquires the data with a GET request, and creates the environment using that. The environment is pulled into Unity from Google Street View, and the data is rendered on top of it.
Challenges I ran into
We didn't know very much about Android, Unity, C#, or Google Maps integration when we began the project. The project was a huge learning experience for both of us, as we explored these technologies and fought against exhaustion.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
It works! We took on a daunting task, knowing nothing about the technologies we chose to use, and did everything we had to in order to make it work.
What I learned
We learned the fast-track version of Unity, C#, Android, and the Pi System.
