Inspiration

Voyager was inspired by the desire to enhance the travel experience for adventurous individuals. As travelers ourselves, we saw the need for a platform that not only connects people but also integrates financial technology to support their journeys. We wanted to create a space where solo travelers, digital nomads, and backpackers could find like-minded adventurers, join exciting communities, and participate in unique events, all while building a trustworthy on-chain identity.

What it does

Voyager is a groundbreaking social-fi app designed specifically for travelers. It blends social networking with financial technology, offering four main features:

  • Random Chat App: Connect with random people based on interests, location, and gender. Progress through levels of interaction to reveal more information and build friendships.
  • Decentralized On-Chain Identity: Establish a pseudo-anonymous on-chain identity that stores hearts, raid participation, opinion points, and support tracking.
  • Cults (Communities): Join interest-based communities, participate in fundraising raids, access NFT-gated groups, and earn rewards for valuable opinions.
  • Raids: Create or join events like DJ parties, carpool trips, and more. Support raids through opinions, couchsurfing, local guiding, or financial contributions.

Voyager is an innovative social-fi app designed specifically for travelers, blending social networking with financial technology to create a unique experience. This platform is divided into four core components:

  1. Random Chat App
  2. Decentralized Onchain Identity
  3. Cults
  4. Raids

A. Random Chat App:

This section acts as a fusion of meeting new friends and Tinder, helping travelers connect with like-minded individuals as they explore new destinations.

Features:

  • Talk to Random People: Connect with others effortlessly.
  • Interest-Based Matching: Find people based on predefined interests, location range, or gender.
  • Blockchain Hearts: Hearts given and received are stored on the blockchain, similar to Snapchat streaks.

Levels Explained:

  • Level 1: Basic connection with gender and age visibility.
  • Level 2: Mutual likes unlock pseudo-anonymous profiles and allow for online game invitations.
  • Level 3: Exchange hearts to become friends and chat. Hearts indicate friendships and are stored on the blockchain.

B. Decentralized Onchain Identity:

Voyager allows users to establish a pseudo-anonymous onchain identity, ensuring privacy and security while maintaining a trustworthy profile for interactions within the app.

Features:

  • Heart Storage: Track the number of friends.
  • Raid Participation: Record the number of raids joined.
  • Opinion Points: Accumulate points for contributions to the community.

C. Cults (Communities):

Communities within Voyager, known as cults, offer a space for users to join like-minded groups for various activities and interactions.

Features:

  • Fundraising Raids: Organize events and raise funds.
  • NFT Gated Communities: Create exclusive groups using NFTs.
  • Opinion Polls: Gather and share opinions.
  • Decentralized Raffles: Participate in community raffles for rewards.

D. Raids:

Raids are adventurous activities organized by users, allowing for unique travel experiences.

Types of Raids:

  1. Go To Solo Raids: Create or join solo travel groups for trips and tours, becoming a local tour guide or finding one.
  2. Event Raids: Launch and participate in physical events with NFT ticket sales and crowdfunding goals.
  3. Welcome To The Den: A couchsurfing service for Voyager NFT holders. Stake crypto to access long-term stays and earn staking rewards.
  4. Wizards Opinions: A forum-like feature similar to Reddit, where users can ask questions and get rewarded for top-voted answers.

Access Requirements:

  • Solo Raids and Event Raids: Free to access.
  • Welcome To The Den and Wizards Opinions: Require staking crypto. Staking rewards are distributed among users in these sections. Community opinion sections can be either paid or free.

How we built it

Voyager was built using a combination of blockchain technology and modern web development tools. We leveraged:

  • Blockchain Tools : Hardhat , Chainlink Functions, Chainlink CCIP
  • Smart Contracts: Token Bound Account { Voyager Profile , VoyagerRegistry, Bytecode}, Chainlink CCIP { Swap Usdc}, Crowdfunding + Chainlink Functions { VoyagerRaid},
  • Frontend Technologies:  Next js , Tailwind , Ether js
  • Backend Technologies: Supabase , Golang , Gin
  • Anime-Themed Design: To appeal to Gen Z users and enhance user engagement.

Challenges we ran into
