Voyage-arrr

Inspiration

Our group met and quickly discovered a shared love for travel! We wanted to make trip planning easier and more personalized, which inspired us to create this tool.

What it does

Voyage-arrr presents users with a questionnaire and uses AI to generate customized, day-by-day travel itineraries based on their preferences.

How we built it

We used Python for the backend, with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript powering the frontend, connecting it all through APIs.

Challenges we ran into

As a team new to hackathons and full-stack development, we faced challenges with API integration and connecting the frontend to the backend. But we pushed through!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud to have completed the project on time, learned new languages and libraries, and collaborated successfully on GitHub.

What we learned

Our team gained experience in full-stack development, API calls, GitHub collaboration, and new programming languages and frameworks.

What's next for Voyage-arrr

We’re aiming to make Voyage-arrr a platform for multiple users, where travelers can share tips, recommendations, and ratings for places they’ve visited, creating a community-driven travel planning experience!

I worked mostly on the frontend, and contributed on the communication between frontend and backend ensuring openAi would be displayed and formatted correctly.

Luisa Ribeiro
I worked on the frontend mainly through CSS. I've had little experience before with the language and frontend development in general, but I learned a lot from trial and error.

Gabriel Pierre
I worked primarily on version control related issues such as resolving merge conflicts. I also worked on the backend, helping develop the backend for the questionnaire in our app

Ernesto Suarez
I mainly worked on the python backend. I created all all of our own api calls for the front end and back end to communicate. I also implemented public APIs to gather the necessary data. In addition, I also wrote and assisted in the frontend development.
