Inspiration

Two cultures. Two families. One dance floor.

Multicultural weddings bring families together, but their musical tastes can be worlds apart. One family may love Bollywood and Punjabi music, while the other prefers Latin pop, salsa, or reggaeton.

Professional wedding DJs face a difficult challenge: creating a celebration that represents both families without relying on stereotypes, generic playlists, or endless manual research.

We created VowBridge AI Pro, a Qloo-powered cultural intelligence agent designed specifically for multicultural wedding DJs.

Our mission is to turn cultural differences into shared experiences, using real taste data instead of assumptions.

What it does

VowBridge AI Pro transforms the musical preferences of two families into a structured, culturally grounded wedding reception program.

The DJ enters each family's favorite artists, chooses the reception duration and atmosphere, and specifies any artists to exclude.

Our agent then:

  1. Resolves the artists using Qloo Search.
  2. Analyzes each family's musical preferences independently using Qloo Insights.
  3. Identifies cultural bridges by comparing independently recommended artists.
  4. Generates and evaluates four alternative music programs.
  5. Creates a ten-block reception timeline with artist recommendations and durations.
  6. Verifies scheduling constraints, excluded artists, recommendation provenance, and family representation.
  7. Regenerates the program when preferences change.
  8. Exports the result in CSV or JSON format.

Why Qloo is essential

Without Qloo, VowBridge can only alternate the artists families already know. With Qloo, it can discover evidence-backed possibilities they might never have considered.

Qloo's cultural taste graph powers our recommendation engine.

Instead of asking a generic language model to guess which artists two families might enjoy, we query Qloo separately for each family's musical interests.

We then compare the resulting recommendation sets to identify artists suggested independently for both groups.

The application displays the cultural evidence supporting its selections and distinguishes grounded recommendations from user-provided favorites.

When sufficient evidence of shared affinities is unavailable, VowBridge does not invent it.

How we built it

VowBridge AI Pro combines cultural intelligence, autonomous planning, and deterministic verification.

Technology stack:

  • Python and FastAPI for the backend.
  • Qloo Search and Insights APIs for cultural intelligence.
  • HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the interactive application.
  • A deterministic agentic planning workflow for recommendation analysis, schedule generation, and replanning.
  • Docker and Render for public deployment.
  • pytest for automated testing.

The agent follows a multi-step workflow: resolve artists, retrieve cultural insights, compare audiences, generate candidate programs, validate constraints, and select a verified proposal.

The verification system checks the output independently rather than trusting unsupported claims about whether a schedule is valid.

Challenges we ran into

1. Reliable artist identification

Artist names can be ambiguous. We implemented identity resolution to reduce the risk of selecting incorrect artists.

2. Genuine cultural grounding

We needed to ensure recommendations came from Qloo rather than unsupported assumptions about cultural compatibility.

3. Balancing two families

We implemented representation constraints requiring at least 35% of the allocated programming time for each family.

4. Accurate scheduling

The agent must produce ten musical blocks whose durations equal the requested reception length.

5. Secure public deployment

We integrated Qloo through our server, keeping the API key private and outside the public repository.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully developed and publicly deployed a working Qloo-powered wedding planning application.

Our accomplishments include:

  • Live integration with Qloo Search and Insights.
  • An autonomous workflow that generates and verifies alternative programs.
  • Cultural affinity evidence displayed directly in the interface.
  • Automatic replanning when artist preferences or restrictions change.
  • 69 automated tests passed.
  • A successful public end-to-end audit using the Render deployment.

During our verified public demonstration, VowBridge generated a ten-block, 180-minute program using Live Qloo data, and all implemented scheduling checks passed.

What we learned

We learned that useful AI applications need more than impressive recommendations.

They need a well-defined audience, reliable external data, transparent decisions, and measurable constraints.

We also learned that cultural intelligence is not the same as predicting human satisfaction.

Qloo can help identify meaningful cultural affinities, but it cannot guarantee that every wedding guest will enjoy every artist.

That is why VowBridge focuses on evidence-backed planning and transparent verification.

What's next for VowBridge AI Pro

Our vision is to transform VowBridge into a professional SaaS platform for multicultural wedding DJs and event planners.

Future developments could include:

  • Integration with DJs' existing music catalogs.
  • Collaborative planning with couples and wedding organizers.
  • Guest feedback collected with consent.
  • More detailed song-level scheduling.
  • Additional cultural and event-planning preferences.

The current application generates artist-level programs rather than individual song playlists. It does not claim to verify song licensing, artist availability, musical transitions, or guest satisfaction.

Our vision: a world where two cultures don't have to compete for the dance floor — they can share it.
