Inspiration

We saw that young people are a group historically under-represented when it comes to voting time, so we sought out to target that demographic by creating an informative game simplifying the voting process.

What it does

The game walks through the steps of registering to vote, researching the candidate, and then casting your ballot.

How we built it

We built our site from basic HTML and CSS and vanilla Javascript. We also utilized Figma and Procreate for our designs.

Challenges we ran into

This was our first major team project where we were all committing to the same repository, so we had to figure out how to delegate tasks. This was also our designer's first experience creating graphics, so knowing what programs to use to get a clean image was something we had to explore. We only had one member who had made games before in Javascript, so we had to navigate how to manage his time to help other members with their questions.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

All but one of us had never made a game before, as stated earlier, so this was our first! We're excited about the level of interactivity we get as the player moving around the map, as well as the different formats of interactions we have in our minigames.

What we learned

We learned a lot about structuring game mechanics, in addition to navigating utilizing the same repository as other individuals on our team. We learned how to create basic game assets and implement them to add individuality. We also learned a lot more CSS when it came to designing our site.

What's next for Voting Quest

We'll continue iterating on the game and making it much more polished moving forward!
