Inspiration
What is your favorite music? What music do your friends like? What musics are in your neighbor's playlist? Normally, we listen to music while we are going to school, studying for the exam, doing homework, and playing games. Sometimes we want to know other people's music tastes to know the trends these days or to know their preference. We came up with our project "VoteUrMusic" to let yall can see which song is most heard in your state.
What it does
For those who want to listen to any music but do not know what to play or want to know what my neighbors' favorite music is, "VoteUrMusic" not only provides a ranking of the top 3 songs that people in your state chose but also let you vote your favorite music.
How we built it
We used backend as MySQL and PHP to build our database that includes user and music information. For the frontend side, JS, HTML, and CSS are used to design and function the web application. Also, we use a cloud IDE service, called GoormIDE, to develop and deploy our web application service.
Challenges we ran into
Utilizing MySQL to construct a web server and synchronizing two different APIS, which are Google Map and Spotify are two main challenges that we ran into. However, we overcame it with the help of mentors(from HowdyHack) and our hard work. Eventually, we ran the project successfully.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Successful application of Google Map and Spotify API.
- Voting System that actually connects the database with the Frontend.
- Great design that is precise and instinctive.
What we learned
We learned how to connect backend and frontend. We also learned how to link multiple APIs into our own.
What's next for VoteUrMusic
A better way to search for the user's favorite music since we couldn't find the music API for searching music by their name. Moreover, through bootstrap, we may further improve the design of the website.
