Inspiration Campus hackathons often suffer from unfair project selection, lack of team diversity, and voting manipulation. We wanted to empower students to transparently share ideas, vote fairly, and collaborate efficiently, using the trust and security of blockchain. Thus, VoteLink was born—a decentralized hub to improve student innovation.
What We Learned Implementing blockchain voting mechanisms
Building wallet-based authentication flows
Creating simple AI team matchmakers
Integrating smart contracts with modern web apps
Delivering secure, scalable features under hackathon deadline pressure
How We Built It Designed the architecture: smart contracts for voting, React for UI, AI backend for team suggestion
Developed and deployed voting contracts on blockchain
Built a user-friendly frontend with wallet connect, submission forms, live vote results
Implemented backend microservice for skill-based matching and team suggestions
Connected everything through API and blockchain calls
Challenges Faced Managing time constraints to deliver a robust MVP in 12 hours
Ensuring blockchain integration with minimal gas fees and fast transactions
Balancing on-chain transparency with off-chain privacy
Creating a seamless UX for rapid onboarding and voting
