Inspiration

Students often struggle to find the right people to learn from or collaborate with. Talent is everywhere, but discovering it nearby is difficult. We wanted to build a platform that helps students instantly find skilled people around them and learn through real, practical collaboration.

What it does

Vormex connects students with nearby peers, mentors, and creators based on their skills and interests. It shows people on a live map, allows instant requests, real-time chatting, and helps students learn skills by collaborating directly with talented individuals around them.

How we built it

We built Vormex using Base44 for the initial development, allowing fast UI creation and immediate backend integration. Location services power the live map, while real-time updates handle requests, chat, and user presence. The architecture is designed to scale later with more powerful backend tools like PostgreSQL and custom APIs.

What we learned

We learned how impactful real-time interaction is when combined with location-based networking. We also understood the importance of UI clarity, feel, and speed—especially when students are looking for quick connections and skill-learning opportunities.
