About the Project
Inspiration
The idea for Vora was born from our desire to create a platform that truly empowers students at our university. We wanted a space where students could connect, express their creativity, and engage with the community. Our inspiration came from the need for a centralized hub that not only fosters connections but also amplifies student voices and talents.
What We Learned
Throughout this project, we learned the importance of collaboration and the power of community. Engaging with peers and receiving their feedback helped us refine our vision for Vora. We also gained valuable insights into user-centered design, emphasizing the need to prioritize the user experience and create an intuitive, accessible platform.
How We Built Vora
Building Vora was an exciting journey that involved several key steps:
- Planning and Design: We started by brainstorming features and creating wireframes to visualize the user interface.
- Technology Stack: We chose Nextjs for the front end, ensuring a dynamic and responsive user experience. For the back end, we utilized Next js api routes, while MongoDB handled our data storage needs.
- Development: We implemented features iteratively, focusing on communities and clubs, a canvas for expression, a gallery of creativity, and the anonymous lecturer rating system.
Challenges We Faced
Building Vora came with its share of challenges:
- Time Limitation:Time was our main limiting factor, we had to spend almost 8 hours a day developing the application
- Balancing Features and Usability: Ensuring a rich feature set without compromising usability was a constant balancing act.
- Anonymity and Safety: Implementing an anonymous lecturer rating system while ensuring student safety and data integrity required careful consideration and robust security measures.
