VolunteerVerse

Inspiration

We were inspired by our school volunteering system. Our own difficulties to find events to assist brought to light how this process could be better streamlined.

What it does do

Our app compiles volunteer opportunities and filters them by age, interests, and location.

How we built it

We used code.org and java.

Challenges we ran into

We had an issue filtering the dataset with more than one of our dropdown menus. Aligning buttons and text boxes also were an issue.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that we created an app and can help kids and adults easily find opportunities to aid our community.

What we learned

We learned that creating an app requires brainstorming, planning, and designing specifically catered towards phone use. When creating apps, testing is done liberally to debug issues.

What's next for VolunteerVerse

VolunteerVerse can become a global program, connecting people all around the world. It can also streamline the school system to use for hours submission.
