Many international volunteers have a broad range of experiences and skills but they do not have the right platform to reach out globally because of the current pandemic.

Sustainability

The platform can connect people socially by finding solutions to help impoverished communities, and by that to create a better workforce for the country’s economy thus improving the environment by spreading awareness.

Our solution is thought to be global - we don’t think it can get any bigger! ;)

Innovation potential

The platform is a flexible place for volunteers all around the world to help people in need virtually and offline too. It can connects problem-owners with volunteers with a few clicks which provides a virtual social interaction as well.

The AFS angle: Global Competence Development

With our platform, we want to engage and develop global competence of all ages of volunteers by preparing them as collaborative problem solvers to thrive in a more diverse, interconnected world.

Social Value

Any individual with electronic gadgets and internet access can join the app while collaboration between individuals and organizations can serve as a bridge to reach out for those without.

How we built it

All the team members contributed many great ideas, we cooperated well with each other and worked together to make it a success!

Challenges we ran into

As we are in different time zones, sometimes everyone could not be able to join all the meetings.

Accomplishments that we are proud of

Making a change for this world is our mission and that inspires us to fulfill our advocacy as global citizens.

What we learned

Team spirit is always needed while working together, we were able to collaborate as a team despite being in different time zones. As we learnt from others we also learnt more about ourselves. What truly motivates us is that by working together proactively in solving the challenge can make our solution a reality. By cooperating with peace and respect in this diversity of world can brighten up our ongoing path!

What's next for Volunteers Connected

In order to create the app, we need professionals to help in programming our app (maybe as a challenge at a hackathon). We also could seek help from organizations like AIESEC, AFS, YFU, Red Cross/Halfmoon to promote our app in their digital and printed publications.
