Volunteerly is focused on creating strong and altruistic connections within communities through volunteering and assisting those affected by the pandemic.
Inspiration Many people have been struggling in so many ways due to the pandemic in social and financial ways, especially those who are immuno-compromised. Sarah, a team member, suggested creating a website that was volunteering based in which people could either request help or sign up to help others who are unable to do certain tasks.
What it does Volunteerly lets people request help or help others who are unable to do groceries, buy masks, and more! It is especially helpful to those who are immuno-compromised and could be unable to go out and do essential tasks that the pandemic prevents them from doing.
How we built it We used Figma for the rough drafts, NicePage for the front-end of the website, and Replit to collaborate on code.
Challenges we ran into A lot of us are beginners and were trying to figure out what to work on especially for the back-end.
Accomplishments that we're proud of How the website looks overall and its purpose.
What we learned Learned how to work in a fast-paced environment and get as much done that was needed.
What's next for Volunteerly We would like to develop the website even further such as establishing what type of tasks can be done for the community, live infographics showing covid cases in each county, and verification of vaccination for users in terms of safety.
