Inspiration

Our journey commenced with a transformative volunteering experience at Lifelong, where our efforts were dedicated to preparing nutritious meals for individuals facing health challenges. This impactful encounter ignited the spark for the creation of our volunteer platform.

What it does

As Team Ouroboros, our primary objective is to streamline the process of logging volunteer hours and establish connections between users and nearby organizations hosting charitable activities. We aspire to foster a vibrant digital community actively promoting and encouraging volunteer participation.

How we built it

  1. Deciding Topics
    • We initiated with a quick brainstorming session on various social goods topics. Opting for Volunteer Enhancement over a donation platform, we found it more relevant to our experiences.
  2. Web Design
    • Identifying engineering requirements, we prioritized hour logging for tracking volunteer contributions and enhanced accessibility to nearby organization information.
    • Utilizing Figma, we crafted wireframe UI designs, discussing database structure and components.
    • Task assignments aligned with each team member's skill set, and we concurrently developed frontend and backend components, seamlessly integrating them.
    • Rigorous testing using Postman and significant CSS refinement concluded the development process.

Challenges we ran into

  • Implementation of the filter feature: Displaying different organization posts based on tags.
  • Establishing a robust connection between frontend and backend.
  • Page format modifications for an enhanced user experience.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

    • Distinguishing between admin and regular users, granting admin capabilities to verify and manage organization info, and view logs.
