Inspiration
There are so many volunteering opportunities that go uncompleted because people don't know about them and don't care about them. If there was a way to find these opportunities fast more people would help out but the current system is just too inefficient and doesn't make it easy to sign up and get started
What it does
We created an interactive application that allows users to easily find volunteering opportunities around them and gather important information relevant to the user to find the perfect opportunity.
How we built it
Front End: React TypeScript Back End: Python Postgres
Challenges we ran into
CORS issues and dynamic rendering of the pages were issues that cropped up in the last few hours before deadline submission so it was a time crunch trying to resolve those.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We still managed to complete a feasible UI and design for our web app!
What we learned
We will avoid using docker and spending many hours contemplating on different ideas to come to fruition.
What's next for Volunteer Hub
We managed to create a good application that incorporates all the functionality that we had imagined was possible of getting done in this short span of time. The app runs well and manages to go and hit multiple challenges the were aiming for before starting this
There were some modifications and additions to the volunteering system that could have been made so that the app would be more fun for the user and add more activities other than just the point system
