Inspiration ## What it does ## How we built it ## Challenges we ran into ## Accomplishments that we're proud of ## What we learned ## What's next for Volunteer Connector
Martin Luther King, Jr once said, Life’s most persistent and urgent question is “What are you doing for others?” Volunteering has always been a way to be of service to people in need and help our communities. As Africans, we face certain problems of lack of quality education, lack of electric power, increased rate of poverty level, poor health facilities, and so many others so sad to mention. There are millions of people who want to help in any little way they can, and we have organizations created for these specific problems we are facing, but they do not know the communities that need it best, or even have people coming to help them in attaining their goals. Volunteering matching app (VMA) is to bridge that gap between the individuals ready to volunteer and the organizations that need these individuals. VMA consists of a home page that tells a user briefly about the website, and it has a sign-in button for both organizations and individuals that would like to register. It also consists of a list of volunteering opportunities in our feed. Creating the website was not an easy task, we ran into a lot of bugs, and we did our best. We are proud we were able to do this much within the time frame given, we learned a lot during the process and we are grateful regardless of the outcome. We certainly hope to continue this project after the hackathon, to achieve our goals of helping millions of people in need. Thank you.
