Inspiration

Volunteering is essential for students' growth, but finding opportunities can be challenging. We aim to simplify this process by creating a platform where students can easily find and share volunteering opportunities.

What it does

Volunteering Portal allows users to browse, upload, and connect with volunteering opportunities based on their interests and location. Users can track their volunteering hours and progress.

How we built it

We built the Volunteering Portal using Java. We utilized databases with CSV Files to store user information and volunteering opportunities.

Challenges we ran into

Integrating location-based search functionality posed challenges, as did storage of user info. Additionally, having enough space for all volunteering opportunities and information was a challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud to have developed a platform that addresses the common barriers students face when seeking volunteer opportunities. Our platform enhances the diversity and accessibility of volunteering experiences.

What we learned

Throughout the development process, we learned the importance of effective communication and collaboration. We also gained insights into storage principles and the technical aspects of CSV storage.

What's next for Volunteer Connect

In the future, we aim to expand our platform's reach by partnering with more organizations and implementing additional features such as volunteer reviews and recommendations. We also plan to enhance the platform's accessibility and usability based on user feedback.
