Inspiration

The lack of awareness of volunteering opportunities in Singapore. Volunteering communities are not collated and spread all around. No centralized platform for community volunteering.

What it does

A platform for people and communities to post volunteering events. For now, we are focusing on elderlies who need help with their daily lives, e.g. tidying the house, buying groceries. With this platform, they can post listing where people can volunteer to help them.

How we built it

Using Next.js and Firebase

Challenges we ran into

Unfamiliarity with the tech stack used and insufficient time to complete the features.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We think that the idea of having a centralized platform is good and may encourage people to volunteer more easily.

What we learned

Extensive planning is essential for the project to succeed and familiarity with the tech stack is also important to come up with the MVP in such a short time.

What's next for Volunstreet

Complete the features and expand into other categories such as animal shelters.
