Inspiration
I noticed that during important conversations, the most engaged person in the room often ends up stuck as the "secretary." Whether it’s a brainstorm, an interview, or a consultation, we spend so much energy capturing information that we stop actually processing it. I built Vola to unleash people from the keyboard, allowing them to sit back and stay present while AI handles the cognitive load of documentation.
What it does
Vola is a voice-first AI partner that transforms raw audio into structured intelligence in real-time.
- Live Transcription: Instant, high-accuracy text across multiple languages (EN/FR/AR/VN).
- Interactive AI Chat: You don't have to wait for the recording to end. You can chat with the live audio to ask, "What were the key takeaways so far?" or "List the deadlines mentioned."
- Structured Extraction: It automatically parses messy speech into organized blocks—decisions, action items, symptoms, or findings—ready for immediate use.
How we built it
The app is a native iOS experience built for speed and reliability.
Challenges we ran into
The hardest part was context retention in long recordings. As conversations go on, keeping the "Live Chat" accurate while the transcript continues to grow requires careful prompt engineering and memory management.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I’m proud of creating a "hands-off" user experience. The "Chat with live recording" feature turns a passive audio file into an active, searchable database in real-time. I’m also proud of the architecture; building a production-ready app with a sustainable monetization model and a clean, dark-mode UI was a massive personal milestone.
What we learned
I learned that less is more in UX. Professionals don't want a dozen buttons; they want to hit record and trust the system. This project taught me how to bridge the gap between complex backend AI logic and a simple, "one-tap" interface.
