Inspiration

I wanted to build something visual and interactive for the hackathon. I've been making YouTube content about AI tools and no-code platforms, so I thought — why not prove the concept by building an actual game? I sketched out six dark fantasy creatures and some attack animations, and Voidlings was born.

What it does

Voidlings is a quick monster duel game. You pick one of six creatures, each with their own style and attacks, then battle in fast turn-based fights. When you use an attack, an overlay animation (claw strikes, fire breath, etc.) plays on screen to make the combat feel punchy.

How we built it

I built the entire game on MeDo using their AI-powered no-code platform. I described the game mechanics, battle system, and UI in plain English, and MeDo generated the code. The characters and attack overlays were designed separately and integrated into the app.

Challenges we ran into

Getting the attack animations to overlay correctly on the battle screen took some tweaking. Also, balancing the damage values so no single creature felt overpowered required a few rounds of testing.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Shipping a fully playable game with six unique characters, animated attacks, and a working battle loop — all within the hackathon timeframe. It demos well and actually feels like a real game, not just a prototype.

What we learned

MeDo's AI builder is surprisingly capable for interactive projects. You can go from "I want a Pokémon-style battler" to something playable faster than I expected. The key is being specific with your prompts about game mechanics.

What's next for Voidlings

Adding more creatures, a simple progression system (win battles to unlock new monsters), and maybe multiplayer battles if the platform supports it.
