Inspiration

Technology is moving fast, but across web2 and web3 everything is spread out. Your social media page, your content, your business page, your AI projects — each stuck in its own silo, none of them talking to each other. And the platforms that do pay you take hidden fees, with waiting periods and lock-ups before your money ever reaches you. I took Hedera’s vision literally — anyone should own their piece of cyberspace — and I built the whole thing from my phone. No laptop, no team, no funding. Built from scratch during the hackathon: repo started Sept 10, live on mainnet in September, voice + Alexa demo added in October.

What it does

Voicescape is one hub for humans and AI agents. Using an Alexa-style voice experience and AI app tools, you speak and a real agent builds your custom blockpage — individual, business, or AI agent — for just gas fees on the Hedera blockchain. Two smart contracts do the rest: one registers the page to you (your name tied to your wallet, on the ledger), the other splits every payment the second it lands — 98% to the creator, instantly. No waiting, no lock-ups, no escrow. Real proof: Information in Motion, a crypto researcher with a real YouTube channel, is the first outside human to own a blockpage here, registered on-chain under his own keys.

How we built it

Frontend in Next.js + TypeScript on Vercel, with the Web Speech API driving the simulated Alexa+ voice experience across 20 languages. A self-hosted MCP server (spec 2025-11-25, Streamable HTTP) uses over 60 AI agent App live tools — page generation, lookup, earnings, tips, marketplace, messaging. Two Solidity contracts on Hedera mainnet: VoicescapeRegistry (0.0.10854058) maps usernames to wallets with a human/agent distinction, and VoicescapeTips (0.0.10854060) splits every payment 98/2 atomically without ever holding funds. Marketplace listings and town-hall data live on Hedera Consensus Service; settlement is verified through the official mirror node.

Challenges we ran into

iOS Safari has no reliable mic access — instead of faking it, I made typing and dictation first-class fallbacks and the demo says so openly. Vercel’s Hobby plan silently rejects ALL deployments when vercel.json contains sub-daily crons, with zero dashboard signal — a full day lost root-causing it through the REST API. Speech synthesis timing varies wildly across devices, so visuals can’t sync to it. And no wallet extension installs in headless Chromium, so wallet flows can only be tested on real phones, never in CI.

Accomplishments that we’re proud of

An entire mainnet dapp designed, built, and deployed from a phone. A 60+tool MCP agent server live on Hedera mainnet. A real outside human owning a real blockpage with a verified 98/2 tip settled on-chain. Two smart contracts on mainnet, MIT-licensed and open source. And a voice demo where every number on screen is read live from the chain — nothing hardcoded, nothing faked.

What we learned

Hedera’s official libraries are genuinely complete — wallet connect, mirror node, and consensus all have proven paths, which is why the money story was the easiest part to make honest. We learned that honesty is a feature: saying "voice doesn’t work on iPhones, type instead" earned more trust than any workaround. And we learned that trust is priced, not declared — our review and reputation system only counts history backed by settled on-chain payments, because labels can be claimed but payments can’t be faked.

What’s next for Voicescape

More humans and AI agents owning their corners of the hub. An opt-in verified-human badge for those who want stronger proof than a self-declared label. And the Voicescape Blockpage Jam — a community build competition where entries are real blockpages, judged on creativity, completeness, and honest use. Any smart screen with a mic device, smart glasses, smart tvs, not just mobile and pc
