Inspiration
We were inspired by the stories of girls around the world who are silenced by barriers like war, poverty, and early marriage. We wanted to create a platform that gives their voices a space to be heard — and helps others take action to support them.
What it does
Voice2Learn is an interactive storytelling site that uses audio to share real stories of underrepresented women and girls. It includes a gender gap map, learning resources in multiple languages, and a pledge and action page to get users involved through volunteering, donating, or raising awareness.
How we built it
We built Voice2Learn using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, along with embedded maps, audio tools, and external databases. We focused on creating a clean design that works across devices and brings each story to life through voice.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled with getting the audio recordings to work seamlessly on different devices. Embedding the map without slowing down the site was another big challenge. Styling multiple sections while keeping the design accessible also took a lot of testing and problem-solving.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud that we created a fully working platform that blends storytelling, design, and real-world action. From the pledge tracker to the Story Wall, everything was built with care to make sure it feels meaningful and easy to navigate.
What we learned
We learned how to merge emotion and tech in a way that feels personal. We gained experience using interactive web tools, fixing bugs under pressure, and designing for accessibility. Most importantly, we learned how powerful a story can be when it’s heard.
What's next for Voice2Learn
We want to add more stories from grassroots activists and offer an upload feature for users to submit their own voice recordings. We also plan to partner with nonprofits to expand our resources and reach more people globally.
