Inspiration

1.6 billion people in the world are neurodivergent, and most of them struggle with aspects of communication. Unfortunately, the world keeps failing to adapt to differences, and neurodivergent folks need to adjust. By creating a voice AI powered platform tailored to these individuals, we aim to provide a safe and supportive environment for honing essential conversation skills. With research showing that practice can improve conversation skills drastically in people with ASD and ADHD, Voice Spectrum is the perfect platform for anyone looking to improve their life!

What it does

Voice Spectrum is a voice AI powered platform helping neurodivergent people practice their conversation skills. Users can chat with AI conversation partners and receive real time emotional feedback and useful analytics.

How we built it

• Research! Research and more research! We used clinical data to identify specific problems and designed features to solve them.
• Figma for prototyping
• Miro for data collection and team collaboration
• Pitch to build a presentation

Challenges we ran into

• Clear data on neurodivergence and communication problems is scarce. We had to dig deep into scholarly articles to find relevant key figures.
• With our limited design experience, we were pretty slow with the prototyping tools at first but fortunately we got up to speed very quickly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are both relatively new to the product world. This was Marwa's first hackathon and Subramanian is a self taught product designer that started a few months ago. Creating such a complex problem from ideation to prototyping is a great accomplishment for us. We are also very proud of providing an accessibility solution and using AI to make positive change within the neurodivergent community.

What we learned

We learned a lot about neurodivergence. We also honed our presentation skills, our research skills, and our prototyping skills! We further learned how to use tools like Figma and Pitch. We definitely practiced working in a time crunch and carefully planning out the execution of our project.
