Inspiration
Our inspiration behind the creation of this application is to connect all students in the classroom with a resource that captures important information that may be missed during lectures for those with learning challenges.
What it does
This application allows users to record an audio clip and receive a transcript file in response. This file can then be downloaded and edited by students to create and organize direct notes from the lecture in a way that works with their individual learning style.
How we built it
This website application is programmed using Python Django, HTML/CSS, Javascript, and the Google Cloud Speech to Text API.
Challenges we ran into
Challenges presented in the creation process of this application consisted of learning web development with Python Django from scratch, learning new concepts such as Javascript, and using the Google Cloud Speech to Text API for the first time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our accomplishments consist of developing a working prototype, successfully implementing the Google Cloud Speech to Text API, and developing an understanding of the resources used to create the project.
What we learned
During the course of this project, we've learned how to implement new technical concepts such as APIs and web development based programming languages while facing time restrictions and outside limiting factors.
What's next for Voice Memo Pad
Our hope for the future is to modify this application at a later time while focusing on factors such as display and user experience, while also enhancing functionality. Another attribute would be to increase the time limit for audio recording.
