Inspiration

There have been times that we had a major presentation, and wanted to practice, but its late, so have no one to ask for feedback. We sought to build a way to get feedback at any time.

What it does

VOXcoach allows users to record or upload speeches, and receive feedback on their speeches. It provides feedback on tone, flow, and clarity.

How we built it

The project was built using the MERN stack. We also used tools such as copilot and gemini to help with coding, and gemini's API to analyze the user's speech files

Challenges we ran into

We had some communication challenges when we first formed the team, with people working on the same thing, and also having a different understanding of what the project, and our workflow would look like. However, we overcame these to build a coherent app. On the technical side, we ran into problems getting the Gemini API to work. I found out we had to enable billing, but then ran into unknown errors with enabling billing, before I found out I had to enable a google account setting.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of our front end's design, and with how we were able to get speech feedback using prompt engineering with Gemini.

What we learned

We learned the importance of communication, and making sure we all have the same understanding of a cohesive plan for our app's design and flow, and our workflow.

What's next for VOXcoach.

We would like to expand our app to handle more types of feedback, and enable gamification to encourage practice.
