Inspiration
Voice Buddy emerged due to the frustrations of not having a good medium to practice speech. All available options felt like we had to do too much work upfront just to be able to get started. We wanted to take the hassle out of the equation
What it does
It takes the audio that you want to learn, like lyrics or speeches, and it formats it onto a timeline that sets the pacing for you. No more guessing how fast or slow you should be speaking when trying to learn a song or a speech
How we built it
Front end was built with HTML,CSS,REACT,JAVASCRIPT and the backend was done in PYTHON
Challenges we ran into
It was our first time working with major technologies (react, flask, big library models) so we kept running into hurdles every step of the way.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Despite the many bugs, we were able to get most of the logic and functionality working. The concept works, albeit not fully connected.
What we learned
Working with new technologies was eye opening as to how powerful but complex they are. We learned a lot about how to prototype and reach outside of our comfort zones to imagine something we weren't sure how to build and be able to put something together
What's next for Voice Buddy
We want to complete the front and back end to properly connect the requests, as well as make it more performance efficient
