How we built it Our journey to bring WanderPal to life involved mastering cloud architecture and leveraging cutting-edge technologies. Here's a glimpse of how we built it:

For the development of my static HTML CSS website, I dived into mastering cloud architecture as part of my degree program. I used an online template, which I customized and deployed through a CI/CD Pipeline. The magic happened on GitHub actions and AWS. Changes were seamlessly pushed to an Amazon S3 bucket, a cost-effective storage service. To top it off, I secured a domain through a promotional offer at the start of this hackathon. I set up the name servers on Route 53 and directed the static S3 website endpoints to the domain.

For the creation of the chatbot, I followed various AWS tutorials to securely host it on AWS. My application was built with React, and the backend relied on a Lambda Python handler function, making various API calls. I ensured that the chatbot was developed in a portable manner and even created a cloud formation template, allowing it to be deployed serverless in mere minutes.

Challenges we ran into Our journey was not without its fair share of challenges. For me personally, mastering Python was a hurdle as I had existing functionalities working in another language. Initially, my focus was on creating a fun and non-creepy Memoji/Bitmoji talking face, envisioning it as my personal assistant for delightful conversations. However, achieving perfection in this endeavor proved to be elusive.

Accomplishments that we're proud of Despite the challenges, we take immense pride in successfully deploying a chatbot on AWS, seamlessly integrated within a cloud architecture framework. The icing on the cake was integrating the Eleven Labs API, a feature that opens doors to creating your very own personalized assistant.

What we learned Our journey with WanderPal was a crash course in AWS knowledge. We delved deep into the world of cloud architecture, AI, and Python, expanding our horizons and gaining valuable insights along the way.

What's next for Voice Assistant As we look to the future, our vision for WanderPal goes beyond borders. We aim to deepen its integration within the AWS ecosystem, with a focus on health compliance. Who knows, WanderPal might evolve into a health application, offering guidance and companionship on journeys towards well-being.
