Inspiration
I saw how the world was being affected by the pandemic in different ways. I mostly saw ignorance surrounding what this virus entails. I wanted to help the community in some way which led me to make this program.
What it does
This program answers questions related to the Coronavirus and COVID-19 using search patterns and web scraping data.
How I built it
I used a text editor called Sublime Text and I executed the program in Terminal.
Challenges I ran into
One challenge was trying to make the program compatible with MacOS and Windows, so many users could use it. Another challenge was making the UI presentable and user-friendly.
Using it
- Download ParseHub
- Download Python
- Download the repository off of GitHub
- Change directory to where all the files are contained
- Type pip install -r requirements.txt in
- Web scrape worldometers.info using ParseHub or you can use my project and run the program
- Edit the code as needed for the information
- Run python main.py
- To figure out commands say "hey corona help" and the voice assistant will tell you what to do
- Type python pyttsx3.py to figure out the different voices on your PC, so you can change the voice of the assistant.
- Have fun!
Built With
- parsehub
- python
