Inspiration

Choosing the right clothes is not always as simple as following trends. We noticed that an outfit or color that looks great on one person may not have the same effect on another, yet most online fashion recommendations remain generic and rarely consider the features that make each individual unique.

This inspired us to build Vogue Vista, an AI-powered personal styling platform centered around two key aspects of personal style: color analysis and body shape analysis. Our goal was to use technology to help people better understand what complements their natural features and make personalized fashion guidance more accessible to everyone.

What it does

Vogue Vista allows users to upload an image and receive personalized styling recommendations based on their individual features. The user can also give an additional quiz for the system to better understand the user's natural features and provide personalized recommendations for clothing and jewellery.

The platform analyzes the user's skin undertone, classifying it as Warm, Cool, or Neutral, and identifies their body shape, such as Hourglass, Pear, Apple, Rectangle, or Inverted Triangle in terms of female body types and Inverted Triangle, Oval, Rectangle, Trapezoid and Triangle in terms of male body types.

Using these results, Vogue Vista provides personalized recommendations for clothing colors, outfit styles, accessories, and wardrobe color palettes. Instead of offering one-size-fits-all fashion advice, the platform helps each user discover styles and colors specifically suited to them.

How we built it

We built Vogue Vista by combining computer vision, image processing, and web development into a single interactive platform.

For the analysis system, we used technologies such as OpenCV, MediaPipe, and NumPy to process uploaded images, analyze relevant skin regions, detect body landmarks, and study body proportions. The results are then passed to our recommendation system to generate personalized fashion suggestions.

The different components of the application communicate through REST APIs, creating a complete workflow from uploading an image to receiving personalized styling recommendations through an intuitive web interface.

Challenges we ran into

One of our biggest challenges was dealing with the unpredictability of real-world images. Changes in lighting, camera angles, image quality, backgrounds, and user poses can affect the accuracy of both color and body shape analysis.

We also had to ensure that the different parts of the project worked together smoothly, from image processing and analysis to backend communication and presenting the final recommendations to the user.

These challenges required continuous testing and refinement to make the overall experience as reliable and user-friendly as possible.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that Vogue Vista goes beyond simply identifying a user's features and turns the analysis into practical, personalized fashion guidance.

Successfully bringing color analysis and body shape analysis together in a single platform was one of our biggest accomplishments. We were also able to build a complete experience where users can upload an image, receive an analysis, and immediately understand how those results translate into colors and styles that may suit them.

Most importantly, we are proud of turning an idea at the intersection of fashion and AI into a functional application with real-world potential.

What we learned

Building Vogue Vista gave us hands-on experience with computer vision, image preprocessing, full-stack development, API integration, and recommendation systems.

We also learned that developing an AI-powered application involves much more than producing a prediction. The results need to be presented in a way that is understandable, useful, and relevant to the person using the application.

Working with real-world images also taught us about the practical limitations of computer vision and the importance of designing systems that can handle variations in user input.

What's next for Vogue Vista – AI-Powered Personal Styling

We envision Vogue Vista evolving from a color and body shape analysis platform into a complete AI-powered personal styling companion.

In the future, we plan to explore features such as AI-powered virtual try-on, digital wardrobe management, weather-based outfit recommendations, shopping platform integration, and an interactive AI fashion assistant.

Our long-term vision is to create a platform that understands each user's unique style profile and helps answer one of the most common questions people face when choosing what to wear: "What actually suits me?"
