Describing symptoms accurately, knowing which questions to ask, and advocating for your needs isn’t always easy, especially when the nerves kick in! The complexity of PCOS further complicates this process—with symptoms ranging from irregular periods metabolic issues, and presenting in various ways, patients are often dismissed or misdiagnosed. That’s where vocate comes in.

what it does

Through a symptom log supplemented by an AI chatbot and data visualizations, vocate provides individuals with PCOS with a clear, comprehensive, and organized way to communicate their health concerns. By tracking symptoms over time, users can approach medical appointments feeling confident and prepared. The integrated Gemini AI chatbot offers guidance on how to communicate symptoms, ask the right questions, and navigate discussions with healthcare professionals. This is particularly important for PCOS, where symptoms vary widely between individuals, making effective communication crucial!

how we built it

  • React Native JS for a seamless and responsive frontend
  • MongoDB to store user data and symptom logs
  • Google Gemini AI ChatBot offering tailored advice and support for users

challenges we ran into

  • Translating a complex tracking system into a simple user experience
  • Maintaining data privacy and security while integrating user health data (this will be an ongoing challenge)
  • Racing against time!
