Inspiration

VIVIO CARE was inspired by the challenges faced by guardians and families in finding trusted, verified healthcare and caregiving providers, especially in Kenya. Accessing emergency medical assistance, coordinating transport, managing healthcare payments, and tracking service delivery often requires multiple disconnected platforms. We wanted to create a single ecosystem that simplifies healthcare access while improving trust, transparency, and emergency response times.

What it does

VIVIO CARE is an integrated healthcare management platform that connects guardians, healthcare providers, transport services, and emergency responders in one secure ecosystem.

The platform enables users to:

  • Book verified healthcare and caregiving services.
  • Access emergency medical support through a rapid-response system.
  • Track healthcare providers and responders in real time.
  • Manage healthcare payments through integrated wallets and payment gateways.
  • Monitor dependents and healthcare activities.
  • Communicate directly with providers and support teams.
  • Report and track medical incidents.
  • Review and rate service providers.

By bringing all these services together, VIVIO CARE improves accessibility, accountability, and quality of care delivery.

How we built it

VIVIO CARE was built using a modern microservices architecture designed for scalability, reliability, and future growth.

Key components include:

  • Frontend web application with responsive mobile-first design.
  • Backend services handling authentication, bookings, emergency dispatch, payments, and notifications.
  • Real-time capabilities powered by Supabase.
  • Secure payment integration supporting M-Pesa and Stripe.
  • KYC verification system for healthcare providers.
  • Role-based dashboards for guardians, providers, transport operators, and administrators.
  • Modular service architecture allowing independent scaling of critical services such as emergency response and payments.

Challenges we ran into

During development, we faced several challenges:

  • Integrating multiple third-party APIs and ensuring seamless communication between services.
  • Managing real-time updates and tracking across different user roles.
  • Designing a scalable architecture capable of supporting healthcare, transport, and emergency services simultaneously.
  • Limited funding and resources during development.
