Inspiration

Health myths spread fastest in short video, and the accounts that correct them burn out: researching, scripting, recording and posting every day is a full-time job. I am a medical student. I wanted a channel that corrects myths with real studies every day without needing me every day.

What it does

VivaMed Autopilot runs a fact-checked health Shorts channel end to end:

  1. Drafts a "myth or fact" script only from real PubMed abstracts, after a relevance gate checks that each abstract actually studies the question. Fewer than two relevant papers means no script.
  2. A reviewer model checks every claim against its cited paper; a stronger model makes the final call to approve or reject it.
  3. Renders narration, captions and visuals locally, then posts two Shorts a day to YouTube, Instagram and TikTok at a human pace.
  4. Every night it reads the views of every Short and feeds the best-performing hooks back into the next scripts. Evidence rules never loosen: only the hook style adapts.
  5. A watchdog checks every job hourly, re-runs anything that failed, and writes one status page.

What existed before, and what is new in this event

  • Before: the PubMed-grounded script writer and the video renderer.
  • New during LaunchPad Hacks: the analytics feedback loop, the dynamic posting queue (two a day per platform), the two-tier review gate (cheap models check, a stronger model decides), and the self-healing watchdog.

How we built it

Python, free cloud models through a local router, local text-to-speech and Whisper timing, HTML-to-video rendering, Windows Task Scheduler for jobs, and a logged-in browser for posting at a human pace. It runs on one mini PC at almost no cost per video.

Challenges

Making it survive reboots and silent failures: jobs started by hand died with the session, so every job became an idempotent scheduled task with a watchdog.

AI disclosure

Scripts are drafted by AI models from real PubMed abstracts and checked before publishing. The code was written with an AI coding assistant.

Limitations

Translations and scripts are not reviewed by a practising clinician yet. This is health education, not medical advice.
